Child Soldier tells the story of his happy life before the abduction, his time with the rebel militia, his escape from their clutches and finally the worsening situation and growing unrest for Michel and his family and his eventual immigration to Canada with his mother. Despite his young age, Michel never gives up. It is his resilience and courage that helped him to stay alive during his time with the rebels. Child Soldier is her second book about child soldiers. She hopes that the leaders of tomorrow who read it will ensure there is no need for another.Michel Chikwanine (Author) Michel was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and now lives in Toronto, Ontario. A recent graduate of the University of Toronto's Africa Studies programme and an accomplished public speaker, Michel travels the world inspiring people to believe in their ability to make a difference.Claudia Dávilla (Illustrator) Claudia writes and illustrates children's books, and is the author-illustrator of the eco-conscious graphic novels Luz Sees the Light and Luz Makes a Splash.
